Louisville Book Festival Recap

This past weekend, I was honored to be one of many authors to attend the Louisville Book Festival. This year was the first in-person event after having the festival virtual in 2020 and 2021. Having a virtual book festival allowed the authors to get to know each other, but nothing could beat being in person and meeting new readers.
I have to admit; I was nervous about the festival. What if no one buys my books? What if fellow authors think I am a joke for writing novellas? Imposter syndrome is a legitimate thing, and I felt it 100%. I considered not going. I tried making excuses for why I shouldn't make the trip.
Even though I was nervous, I woke up Thursday morning, packed up my vehicle, and headed to Louisville. The closer I got to the city, the more my anxiety lessened. By Friday morning, I was ready to go!
I told myself no matter what, I would make the most out of the weekend. I didn't want to set my expectations too high, so I told myself as long as I sold one book, I would be grateful. Besides selling one book, I also knew I wanted to meet more authors. I was fortunate to meet several authors last year during the virtual event, but I wanted to get to know more people. Being an independent author can be lonely, and learning from others and understanding their writing processes can be so helpful to a newer writer like me.
Overall, the weekend was a success! I met many wonderful readers and exceeded my goal of selling one book! (And yes, I sold more than two!) I also met amazing and talented authors from all over the country, writing in various genres. I learned about new resources, came up with some new ideas, and was able to discuss the joys and frustrations of being an independent author.
I can't speak highly enough about the Louisville Book Festival, and I plan to return in 2023.Virtually, a rtuallyA virtual book festival let authors get to know each other, but nothing beats, reanew ideas, and discussed
